Pleasantville Strong and Westlake PTA sponsored a Fentanyl Presentation “One Pill Can Kill” with presenters Sgt. Jack Brito and Detective James Nabors, Westchester County Narcotics Unit. Over 100 parents and students from Pleasantville, Westlake and Valhalla came to listen to them talk about how deadly doses of Fentanyl have infiltrated common drugs and pills within our communities. According to the officers, every pill they seize and test that has not been administered by a pharmacy has some lethal amount of Fentanyl. Because of its high potency, a very small amount can kill. It is also a very cheap drug to manufacture which makes mixing it with other common drugs desirable, therefore there’s a great possibility that the drugs you buy off the street like ecstasy, marijuana, heroine and cocaine are laced with Fentanyl. They can’t even be 100% positive that vaping oils and cannabis products you buy in dispensaries are clean. Kids need to be aware that “experimenting with any form of substance, runs the risk of death.”
